Sign Up With Pharmacy Outlet to Send Prescriptions Electronically

The Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) is the NHS initiated service that has changed the face of issuing prescriptions in the UK. This service allows a doctor to send prescriptions electronically to a registered pharmacy.

If you regularly collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP practice, you will not have to pay recurrent visits just to pick up a paper prescription. Instead, your GP practice will send prescription electronically to your pharmacy, saving you time.

Is EPS right for you?

The service is right for you if you have a stable condition and want to avoid unnecessary trips to your GP just to pick up a prescription. Also, it is right for you if you wish to get your medicines delivered to your home, without the need of visiting your pharmacy and waiting in the store for a longer period of time.

However, the EPS is not right for you if you do not get prescriptions regularly, or collect your medicines from different pharmacies at all times.

What do I need to do?

First, you need to sign up with your pharmacy so that your GP practice can send prescription electronically; this sign up process is called “nomination”. You can nominate any pharmacy that offers the NHS electronic prescription service. You are not restricted from nominating a chemist near to your GP practice or home, but you must sign up with only one pharmacy.

You can change or cancel the nomination if you are not happy with the service. You can do so only after speaking to your doctor and your pharmacist. Tell them before your next prescription is due, or else your prescription may go to the incorrect place.

Pharmacy Outlet is an internet pharmacy based in Surrey. It offers the NHS Electronic Prescription Service to patients who live in England only.
